How it is growing
Dark stores each company said it had at the end of each March, and in its latest report.
Blinkit
- Orders: 110 million in October to December 2024, 331 million in April to June 2026.
- People ordering in a month: 7.6 million in April to June 2024, 31.8 million in April to June 2026.
- Our own count, October 2026: 2,621 stores.
Swiggy Instamart
- Orders: 270 million in 2024-25, 412 million in 2025-26.
- Orders worth about ₹7,900 crore a quarter for three quarters running, to June 2026; in May 2026 it stopped losing money on each order.

Zepto
- Orders: 332 million in 2024-25, 640 million in 2025-26 (about 1.75 million a day).
- People who ordered in the year: 38.4 million in 2024-25, 48 million in 2025-26.

Companies count stores their own way, and their dates differ from ours. Our month-to-month counts changed method until September 2026, so we do not draw them as growth.

Groceries are most of it. Food, fashion, beauty and pet apps are newer and mostly in big cities.

We counted 7,388 dark stores of Blinkit, Zepto, Swiggy Instamart, Flipkart Minutes and BigBasket in October 2026, and 11,844 quick commerce stores on all 14 apps we track, including JioMart's Reliance stores, Amazon Now and the food, fashion, beauty and pet apps.

Bain and Flipkart put it at $10 to 11 billion of orders, 16 to 17% of all online shopping in 2025 (April 2026). Forecasts for 2030 run from $65 to 70 billion (Bain and Flipkart) to $70 to 90 billion (Redseer with Google). Estimates differ by firm and by what they count.
How fast is quick commerce growing in India?
Blinkit had 377 dark stores in Mar 2023 and 2,443 in Jun 2026, by its owner's reports. Zepto's orders nearly doubled in a year, to 640 million in 2025-26. Swiggy Instamart's stores have grown slowly since March 2025.
